SL65 AMG Is Inexpensive Entry to 200MPH Club

The number 200 means a lot to car guys like us. It’s a magical mile per hour barrier that, even though the bar had been set by the Ferrari F40 nearly three decades ago, is still defined as being a target worth reaching. A very, very expensive target. Any car that will do 200 mph these days is usually deep into the six-digit price tag, but the perpetual gift of depreciation has brought one contender into an amazingly attainable price range.

This 2005 SL65 AMG listed on Craigslist is priced under $50,000, and even better still, it’s had some work done by the formidable RENNtech. Output is stated to be 670 horsepower and 840 lb/ft of torque, with the speed limiter not just increased, but completely removed. One can safely assume with this kind of performance, this SL65 can very easily break the 200 mark, and at the asking price of $48,950, that’s a damn bargain.

The owner also states in the ad that the car has been given a thorough check to make sure it is healthy, as we know some of these SL’s can have some little issues creep up here and there. That makes this example turn-key and ready to fly.
