Studs, rivets, copper and brass. These are not typically the types of materials we think about when talking about Mercedes. A plane? Sure. A tank? Yeah, alright. But Mercedes? That’s a name synonymous with high technology. Composite materials. Aluminium alloy. You’d be right too, at least when talking about a newer car. That’s ignoring the fact that there’s a whole fleet of classic, bullet-proof MB’s still roaming the street. Some of which have been turned into art.

Such is the case with Panzer, a steam punk customized 1969 W114 Benz 250 built by Joe Dale. The hood is copper. The wheels are bronzed. There are gauges and switches surrounded by brass. Really, there isn’t another Benz like this (at least that I’ve seen.)

Admittedly, this is definitely not for everyone. If your idea of a how to treat a classic involves selling it later… Then you’re probably going to balk at this. Personally, I like the fact that the rear wheels are tucked into the fenders. I like that the rear skirt is riveted to the body. I even like those odd looking bronze bumpers.

It’s not pretty. Heck it’s not even finished. But it’s a welcome change from the fast and loud stuff that we see all the time. Lets us know if you like it in the forums!
