The Mercedes-Maybach S600 isn’t going to set the world on fire. It will just throw it in the sauna.

Ned Flanders may get nervous at the remarkable length of this S-Class Pullman, but it’s really Mercedes-Benz executives who need to get nervous. This thing’s going to be a 21-foot flop.

The S-Class has been a favorite of diplomats around the world. The versions that are used to transport diplomats usually aren’t the same ones you find on the showroom floor, though. These bad boys have security upgrades.

You remember that bulletproof Mercedes-Benz S600 Matt Farah was brave enough to sit in while it was put to the ultimate test? Well, apparently that wasn’t ultimate enough. While I can call the video after the jump a follow-up, I can’t really say it’s a test. It’s more of a murder. Farah, Rob Ferretti and some other gun-toting fellows absolutely UNLOAD on the big-bodied business barge.

Going out on a low note isn’t such a bad thing. Especially when that note is as low and sonorous as that played by the hand-built V8 of the Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.3 vehicles. Yes, 2014 is the end of an era. The 6.2-liter M156 and M159 units will soon go the way of the dodo, but don’t worry; twin-turbo 5.5L engines have started taking their spots, and the similarly blown 4.0L mill for the next-generation C63 should prove to be a worthy successor. Perhaps in the future those eight-bangers will make a list as revered as the one after the jump.
