Ultimate Luxury S-Class Showcased By Haute Voiture Concept
If Maybach is the Pinnacle of the S-class line, then the Haute Voiture is the pinnacle of the Maybach line.
With a dab of style, the Mercedes S680 Maybach turns into the Mercedes-Maybach Haute Voiture. It’s a concept right now, but one that very well might be a reality by the end of 2023 according to Motor1. The premise? Maybach can become even more bespoke than it already is by offering ultra limited runs of highly-personalized models. In this instance, white Nappa leather and faux fur are part of the interior that coddles you.
Other brands have teamed up with specialty designers in the past, and Mercedes-Maybach have created Haute Voiture with the creative assistance of Virgil Abloh. They claim it is a “preview of a new, limited special edition that combines automotive luxury with haute couture.” As such, the aforementioned finer materials are included in the interior. But also such things like champagne flutes and rose gold interior accents are included, too.
This concept comes at a time when Mercedes has announced that they are trimming some of their entry model cars in order to focus on upper tier luxury models. In essence, they are done playing in the same sand box as BMW and Audi. Mercedes cars from here out are all about opulence and luxury. Overstated, or understated. Which ever the owner prefers.
The Maybach Haute Voiture concept prefers overstated luxury, especially with the rose gold and deep metallic blue exterior. Two tone is attention grabbing from the start, but this color combination draws the eye ever closer. Especially when you get to the brightwork of the grille, and the window surrounds. Or as your eyes draw down the side of the car on the belt-line that separates the two colors. It’s a striking car, for sure.
Plus, it’s got the big V12. So you can sip your champagne in the back while your chauffeur rips off 11 second 1/4 mile times. OK maybe that chauffeur will be whisking you along the highway at speed, but the V12 is a powerhouse, and the very last of its breed.
