Carlex Designs Mint & Gold Mercedes-Maybach GLS Is an Even More Bespoke SUV
For those that don’t find the Mercedes-Mayback GLS exclusive enough, Carlex has created a version that’s bound to be incredibly rare.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is, by all accounts, the ultimate luxury SUV from the German automaker at the moment, a vehicle that starts out at a whopping $160k. For that outlay of cash, buyers get an incredibly upscale version of the already upscale GLS, an SUV that’s loaded to the gills with fine appointments and unique styling, inside and out. However, for some, the best is never good enough, and for folks that want their Mercedes-Mayback GLS to truly stand out, Carlex Designs just introduced its new Mint & Gold package for the bespoke model.
Known for crafting some of the finest automotive interiors on earth, Carlex Designs currently makes and sells complete turnkey models that take all sorts of luxurious vehicles to the proverbial next level. However, the new Mint & Gold package – also available on the G-Wagon – is a truly stunning and unique offering, starting with a mint and black two-tone paint job on the outside.
Those colors are accented by a gold front grille, side sills, and 23-inch multi-spoke wheels designed in-house by Carlex, but it’s only the beginning. Pop open the door, and you’ll see a massive sea of mint green inside the cabin, covering the seats, door panels, part of the dashboard and steering wheel, and many other surfaces. That look is further accented by diamond quilted stitching and black piping on the seats.
The only thing that Carlex didn’t touch here is the SUV’s powerplant, which is still the stock twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that pumps out 550 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque and is further enhanced by a mild hybrid system that adds an additional 21 horsepower and 184 pound-feet. Getting from 0-60 takes around 4.8 seconds, which is pretty solid for a big, heavy utility vehicle.
As for how much all of this costs, well, Carlex isn’t saying. Those interested in purchasing one of these limited edition vehicles must inquire for that piece of information, which means that it’s likely far beyond the reach of most mortals – but on the flip side, that also provides buyers with the means the kind of exclusivity they’re likely looking for.
