There’s a bit of a performance gap between the $30,000 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 and the $50,000 CLA45 AMG. The CLA250 offers a 2.0L turbo with 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Naught to 60 takes 6.9 seconds in the base CLA.

Step up to the CLA45 AMG, and you get a very pressurized 2.0L engine that produces 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Naught to 60 only takes 4.2 seconds with the AMG model.

So if you want middle-of-the-road performance (a.k.a. the $40,000 experience), what do you do? You turn to German tuning house VÄTH. For about $6,700 VÄTH’s V25 package twists the dial on your CLA250 to 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, dropping the car’s 0-60 time by a second with the help of an ECU reflash and upgraded intake/exhaust systems.

If $6,700 is too dear for you, VÄTH offers a basic ECU tune that will only set you back $1,270. If you’re into visual upgrades, VÄTH offers those, too. Check out how nice their appearance mods look on the CLA-Class in the gallery below.
