Mercedes AMG S63 Cabrio Mods Prove ‘Less is More’
Bulgarian customizer Vilner Studio redefines Mercedes luxury with subtlety in its latest AMG S63 cabrio interior project.
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. That’s the mantra that Vilner Studios took when approaching the task of modifying a Mercedes AMG S63 cabrio. According to Carscoops, Atanas Vilner, whose company bears his namesake, said, “The factory design, fit and finish of the S-Class are definitely up to the car’s status, no doubt about that. But, sometimes you can initiate a totally different experience inside with just a little touch.”
Focusing primarily on interior design leaves Vilner to open up imagination, and think outside the box. As such, only a small number of elements are changed, but the visual contrast they leave on the AMG’s standard ivory interior are astonishing.
Disassembly of the seats, and re-upholstering just the bolsters was the first step. Brown leather with perforations in the shape of diamonds now commands your attention, with a wavy contrasting ivory stitch to add a particularly appealing aesthetic flow.
Much more than just the seat bolsters received this treatment, though. Arm rests also have the brown perforated leather with stitching. And to really make it noticeable with the top down, the upper edges of the door trim, rear parcel shelf and dashboard have been finished in the brown as well. Though those don’t feature the perforations or wave stitching, just plain leather with contrast seam stitching. As a nice touch, even the key has been accented with the same dark brown leather.
Outside, things are left alone, and the same can be said for things under the hood as well. But that’s OK, because for someone who feels an AMG S63 cabrio is enough flash, they can selfishly relish in the special interior changes. At MBWorld, that’s a design direction we like a lot.
