SLS AMG Donuts: We’ve Come to Kill Your Tires

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Doing Crazy Donuts

Before Mercedes went hog-wild with hot turbo technology in all their performance models, they fought the good fight by building brilliant naturally aspirated V8s. Every motor they turned out of the AMG factory in Stuttgart sounded better than the next, like a choir of angels.

All of this naturally aspirated engineering culminated in the glorious 6.2L V8. For a long time, this magnificent motor reigned supreme. It was in everything from the brutal C63 AMG all the way up to the heavy hitter that was the SLS AMG. Each had its own unique note, and all would send shivers down your spine.

However, those days are long gone. There are no more naturally aspirated AMGs. The AMG GT has twin turbos. The new C63 has twin turbos. The E63 has twin turbos.

We may have lost the days of mad barking AMGs, and that’s truly something to lament, however, all is not lost. It’s not like those mad AMGs no longer exist in the world. So let’s raise our spirits by listening to something that doesn’t sound like weird hissing snakes. I give you an SLS doing some absolutely lovely donuts in Bulgaria. If it doesn’t raise your naturally aspirated spirits, nothing will.
