Video of Spero's burnout and others
This is another video of our trackday on 12/2. The M5 didn't use LC on this run. Enjoy!

Wow, promise not bashing at all, but man, this video can really be used in classrooms for example of torque vs upper end hp. I know I know...no launch control used on the M5, but watch the launches...amazing the difference.

I still find it amazing that any schmuck with the coin can take an E55 to the track and turn 11.75. The E55 put that Ford (or was it a Montego?) to shame.

Didn't mean to offend anyone with the schmuck comment. I just meant that any plain old joe can walk in a buy some pretty serious machinery now days.
Used to be you had to be special (Or wait for years on a list) to get access to the real high performance stuff like 427 camaros, ram air V firebirds, F40's, F50's etc in order to get mid 12 style performance.
I think it's a friggin riot that you can get E55 style performance right out of the showroom with out having to be the dealer's butt buddy.

Yes I was flooring it, can't you tell by the trap speed?
If you're wondering why it doesn't take off so hard it's because the LC is pretty lame for track use since it's so sticky at the track.

You can tell that the M5 has power. Listen to it spinning the tire into second and third gear. The car traps well, it just doesn't have the low end tq that we have.

I think 12.58 is pretty good for an old lead sled with a 4spd.

Why is the LC so lame to use on the track? I don't understand the 'since it's so sticky' part.
Sorry I'm being so obtuse today.

I thought that was due to the tires. My friends V6 Mustang chirps when he shifts high.

Spero, I'm just jealous.
I will have DR on for my first spring run. I was going to put drag radials on my stock 18" rims but did I read that you went with 17" on BBS wheels?
Also, if you and Derrick could comment on your pre-launch and launch technique, I would appreciate the information. You guys have the 60ft thing down and that is where I am lacking.

Since they do not make a DR for 19" rims, I wanted to get the smallest rim possible (smaller is better in 1/4 runs) and the BBS RC 17" was the answer. My technique is very simple, warmed up the tires and then hammered it from the line. On my best 0-60 I also started power braking up to 1K and hammering it with no wheel spin.
Look forward to the spring when it gets warmer allowing the tires to grip even more. It was very cold and still was getting killer times.
