Just got our 2007 S600... pics attached
First of all, this thing is amazing. The power of the v12 when the turbos kick in, is crazy. It literally feels like an airplane taking off.
I've had some time tonight to play around with the gadgets and I think I've figured out most of it.
The night vision is kinda cool, I'm not sure if I would fork out the extra money had it been an option.
I've been playing with the distronic plus. It works very well. If I'm following a car, I can set the distance, then when the car in front slows down or comes to a stop, the S stops as well. I thought it was supposed to start when the car in front started accelerating, but the few times I tried, my car stayed stopped. Does anyone know if this is right?
Also, I believe the car is pre-wired and through the settings, I was able to pair my phone with the car. But the telephone function still doesn't work. Do I need the cradle or something? Our dealer is sending us one tomorrow.
One more very small thing, the brochure says that the grab handles on the roof as well as the vanity mirror should be trimmed in wood. It was that way on our 2001 S600, but it's just plastic on the new one. Can anyone tell me if you've noticed this?

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new S600, but we need pics man!!!
I think with Distronic Plus you have to tap the cruise control stalk for it to accelerate from a complete stop. Mercedes can't afford any S600s to launch themselves and startle their drivers or worse.
Not sure about the phone or wood trim questions.

Some more... The second and third pics are of the headrests. They are very comfortable and you can adjust the "wings" to hug your head. My salesman said they only come on the 600s.

The S-Class sales numbers are going to be through the roof this month with the S600 seemingly so popular along with the S550.
The 5th picture in your first post is my favorite. If its one thing Mercedes knows how to do is create a breathtaking frontal view of their cars, been that way for over 110 years!

The Distronic Plus (which I had to give up) will engage from a stop if you just tap the accelerator so I understand. I guess some sort of safety thing to make sure you have not nodded off with auto pilot on...

Distronic Plus - starting from a stop
The previous posters are both correct. There are two methods for getting underway after Distronic Plus has brought you to a stop. Either pull back back on the cruise control stalk (resume) or push the accelerator slightly. I prefer the first as it allows you to start without using the pedals and is a bit smoother.

akburton: MB says the 0-60 is 4.5 secs.
Nevada Jack: The color is Pewter Metallic.
isaacu: I thought it should have the wood trim handles. The roof is alcantara, and the vanity mirrors are trimmed with alcantara. But the grab handles are just grey plastic. Our 2001 S600 has the wood trim, so I know what they are supposed to look like.
Can anyone else who has seen the new 600 comment on this?

Hey, I noticed that the S600s telephone keypad cover is wood, and not leather. Does that feel too hard for your wrist/hand to rest on? I love the look, and I'm sure I'll be able to buy that part for my measely S550.

??
Questing: WHY there are 2 antana or what ever that bump is on the trunk lid and on top of the roof..... I'm guessing one is for the TeleAid (on the roof like all Benz) and the new one on top of the trunklid is for XMradio??? looks kind of tacky.
