Project Chrome Dome.
here's what it started as.
Just a little off the top please. Now I have went a little too far and decided to go for broke.
After diassembly, studying, cleaning, blueprinting, porting, smoothing, I have decided to go way over the top. How about a full haircut?
Getting close to test flight time.

My mechanic did the same to his CLK430 Vortech Type C1. He spent a long time polishing the intake manifold and it looked great. But then, he told me it tarnished after a couple months. I'd go for broke too if the engine was dissassembled.

Well I was hoping to have it done, but the metal fab shop that said they'd try to electropolish it didn't succeed, so here it is. Fully time consuming manual polishing.
The worst part is, I found some more mismatches so I have reshaped a lot of areas and haven't brought it completely back to full polish in these latest pics. Look at the earlier ones and you will notice. Notice all the magnesium shavings on the bench.

Wow! The M119 intake is so much different. What would you say are the main differences?

BTW, the burnout video is with 87 octane in the tank, A side benefit of the intake running way cooler, 87 octane even in the summer in Atlanta, This was a theory I had discussed in the shop and we had played with it before,. It wouldn't tolerate a full throttle run on 89 octane without the knock sensors shutting it down ABRUPTLY. That's how much different an engine this manifold created. The high octane requirement of the M119 is just a bandaid for the poor intake. LOL

Wow, amazing work! I wish I had an intake manifold worth polishing. Have you considered having these parts clearcoat-powdercoated to protect them from tarnish and chemicals? I just had my 18's base/clear powdercoated and am very impressed.
Now I really miss my m119 400E
