190 E - 1993 Bushing issue?

My 1993 190E makes a harsh rubbing sound whenever the right front wheel is turned more than a few degrees. Sound occurs when stationary or when moving. No pulling to the side when rolling. Seems like a bearing or rubber bushing or some such thing.

Any ideas on what might make this sound? Ideas on fixes/estimated level of costs?

thanks

u can check if the bushings are worn by looking for cracks in the rubber. But if it was suspension it would be more appearent when driving over bumps not really whn steering at a stop.
This sounds like a steering (fluid?) issue.

One of those things where you need to get it up and take a look around, Patrick. How many miles? My off-the-cuff guess is your ball joint, in which case you should do both sides. Would cost about 1K at Chicagoland dealers; by far the biggest cost being the labor, not the parts. Again, though, it could be several different things and any mechanic would want to know a lot more info than you've given and probably just take a look around. The ball joint is just a guess based on my own experience.
