Ignition Wires

I was shopping for ingnition wire sets for a 190E 2.6 and found a wide variation in price, from $45 to $300. Any comments on cost vs quality/performance?

Bosch and Beru make good OEM spark plug wires. Nology wires are expensive and won't fit under the cable management strip, but apparently are quite nice.

you get what you pay for - hate to say it but avoid the Bosch wires if you can, the QC is not nearly as good as Behr or Beru.

Accel Wires

I spent at least $85 on wires for my 2.3 and they were worthless! I had to keep repairing them and reattaching the ends. The really frustrating part was that they are like 6mm and my crimping tool was too big.

I finally gave up; went to Pep Boys and got a standard set of 8mm Accel wires for a V-8. They cost around $20. You cut them to fit, and crimp the ends on yourself. The quality is great, and the thicker sheathing and rubber boots reduce radio interference.

Because they are thicker, they won't fit in that fancy plastic cover that hides the wires, but I always hated that thing anyway. Accel wires come with the clips to keep them tidy.

And with any wires, don't forget to splurge on the dielectric grease... actually that was included in my Accel kit as well, but not in the $85 kit.
