help with the coolant overflow
I Just purchased a 1991 190e w/ 2.6 130k miles. The guy I bought it from had some work done on the radiator and a new water pump put on. What I thought was the overflow tank is really the "expansion tank" There is a nipple and a disconnected hose that runs into the side of the firewall. I know from pics that this hose connects to the expansion tank, but what does the other end go to? Is there a recovery bottle hidden down there? The car was getting hot and was blowing coolant out of that nipple, but before I hooked the hose up I wanted to know what it was. I live in Arizona so its hot, I might pick up a generic coolant recovery bottle and stick it in the little area behind the right headlight. Any ideas?
