I'm working on a project!

I just took off all the emblems on my 190e 2.6

There in the "methlab" of my office. First coat of black just went on. Second coming in an hour or so. They look really good. I got a semi shiny black.

My cars white, so this should look pretty good. The emblems used to be "gold" wich, after 13 years, have faded to a gold with the the chrome undercoat shining threw. I hate gold packages. No offense to anyone, just not for me.

I cant wait to put thme back on.

Lessons learned. In wal-mart, the superglue, is RIGHT next to the spray paint. So, insted of walking around walmart for 20+ minutes, just walk 3 feet over.

Also, you DO NOT have to remove the trunk lock, to remove the star. Simple use a flat head screw drive and pry lightly, it will come right up. Also, another 20+ minutes I could have saved.

I didnt scape the old glue off. Im going to super glue it to that. Not to the paint.

No good?

Should I scrape it clean and get the emblem tape. I know that would be the right way to do it. But, this was a spur of the moment, lets run to walmart and start something kinda deal.

I did my grill black too. I left the cross bars chrome, but painted the old grey stuff black. I might re-do it with this paint thought. It looks nice then the first stuff i used.

Use 3M tape please. Krazy glue might run and ruin your paint, dont be lazy.

But yes, black emblems look awesome on white 190's! Seen it done and it looks great. Don't put the 2.6 badge back on though, itll look cleaner.

As for the grill, it'll look 10x better! I did mine and it still looks good.

Im going with the glue. Im probably going to get it painted soon. So im not too worried about it running. I have a plan. Ill take some pics when im done.

My grill is currently black. But, i used cheap spray so it kidna chipped. Im going to redo it. Im thinking of doing the ENTIRE grill and star black. Maybe the chrome the goes up the windshield and across the roof and downt he back windshield. Kinda dechrome the car. I have alot of free time right now. So im just runnign idea's.

I like having the 2.6, only because it shows i have the "faster" model. Realistically its not that fast. But whatever. Its quick enough for me for the moment. Im looking into a 2000 c230 kompressor in the enxt few months. Still on the fence.

Yeah. I re did the grill. Its black and white. See pics below. The black grill was too black, if i had a black car it would look better. So I re did it last night. I still have to take out the grill again and paint the release white, i forgot about that. and touch up on the black trim. But, I guess I like it.

The emblems came out really nice. I like them alot. I kept all of them. I broke the star, but its not noticable and it didnt break all the way. lol. Once I get my car back from the detailer, my paint "should" shine again and not have mechanic marks baked into the paint. My car was just washed a day ago. It looks filthy because the black marks wont come off. Apperently only an acid bath or soemthing will do it. My detailer is a friend of mine. He also does body work and custom work on planes and cars.

These pics are taken with my phone, its only 2megapixel. Then I shrunk them alittle. So there not that great.

Let me know what you think.
