HELP please! 190E 2.3_16v idle in traffic problems

I drive a 1986 190E 2.3 16v, my problem is when im in traffic or just parked with the engine on, after about 15-20 mins its like the car just loses power, the horn wont work and the AC gets warm. Im not sure what other electricals in the car dont get enough power but those two are the ones noticeable. Any ideas what the problem is? I just changed my alternator and its still the same problem for me. thanx!

does the compressor seem like it has to heavy of a draw -let the car run for the 15 min with the compress. running (i'm surprised it still works period) shut the car off then try to turn the clutch (careful it's HOT!) will it lose power without the a/c on? as far as the horn that may be unrelated i had a fuel gauge that kinda wandered at times but two minutes under the hood and some cleaning of the battery terminals fixed the problem what the hell it's free and couldn't hurt --but it sounds like you might have two issues here obviously the horn inop is the least of your problems but check the compress. for draw you might just have to live without a/c----good luck

OVP is Over Voltage Protection relay. It is a fused relay that supplies power to the CIS-E ECU as well as ABS/ASR circuitry if the car is so equipped. It is located behind the plastic panel that is behind the battery, it is a panel to hide the electronics behind it mounted to the firewall, also keep water out.

Rough Idle/ Loss of Power

I have an 86 190E 2.3 16v It idles roughly at start up(sometimes stalls) and seems to be lacking power. It hesitates or "misses" at 3000-3500 between 3rd and 4th, and seems altogether sluggish. I have changed cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter and have brought vehicle to two mechanics. One of the being a Mercedes dealership. Both left mwe nothing more than a $400 bill, and vehicle seems to be still runing much the same. Anyone have any ideas or have had similar problems. New to me vehicle, so not familiar with it at all. Any imput on this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bob

tune it yourself (takes 5 minutes and a volt meter), go to the junkyard and pocket a idle control valve, clean the cold start injector, and there ya go.

Idle Control Valve

Does the exhaust manifold have to be removed to take idle control v/v out to replace it? How many hours should it take to replace an idle control valve??
