Should I buy....

An '87 190D?

The car in question is a VERY strong runner, but it has some nit-picky things wrong with it..... they are as follows

1. The Climate control has a mind of it's own, and really only seems to blow full bore out of all of the vents, and the air coming out of it is tepid, my mech says it needs recharging.

2. The passenger seat is trapped almost all of the way back, but... it moves a couple inches forward and back, all of the way up and down, and the back rest works properly, it just can't go all the way forward.

3. The backlight in the instrument cluster doesn't appear to work.

4. The right rear window only goes down by the button on the center console, not up, but the button on the door works both ways, however the driver's rear doesn't work at all.

5. The wiper only works once in a small while, about 50% of the time...

6. The thermometer display is totally shot.

7. And last, I'm assured that the trans isn't shot but needs a filter and fluid change...

So, basically, How much am I looking at spending on parts and getting these things fixed? and if some of the more minor problems are easily dealt with, how do i fix them?

There is no such thing as a minor problem when you have a 3 point star

Sounds like you need a new button for the window. The seats might just be getting cought the track possible. I had that probelm, there is a plstic piece that surronds the track, i had to pull it off... That sucked.

Possible fuse for the instrument cluster think.

I cant remember the rest. Might want to have the seller pay for the tranny flush thing before you buy it.

Hmmmm.... the seat thing I might need some coaching on, it's so tight around it, I can't see what's going on with the seat... and I had some suspicion that the instrument light was a blown fuse, so thanks for making me a little more at ease on that, I'm not looking forward to having to rip out the cluster to change a bloody light bulb, and the seller is eating some of the cost of these little things, but the tranny flush deal I can do myself.

Now that just leaves the climate control, with it's mind of it's own....

And the wiper. And the thermometer.

The wiper has a module under the hood, gets moisture in it, check it and replace it. One window is only switch, you need to put power to the other window to check it. motor regulator assemblies are only 99.00 on e-bay.
Blower for A/C could be blower motor resistor, a/c doesnt evaporate so if its low it has a leak of some kind...
