Hard to replace hose

Ok. Is there an easier way to replace the hose indicated 266 in the picture without totally removing the cooling pump and everything else you have to remove to do that? Why in the world did they put in such a hard to replace hose?!

The hose runs from the engine into the top of the cooling pump.

are you trying to get to the top or the bottom? I just did my radiator on a 2.6 and Im pretty sure I got that off without taking out the raditor yet. I think I whent in through the part of my bumper that comes off for towing i guess. I could be totally wrong tho. Im not even 50% sure what hose that is.

I see. I dont think I removed that then.

Have you tried just removing the clutch fan and scroud (plastic thing around it)? Its only like 3 srews. and it opens up alot. I dont even know if that will help since I dotn even know if my engine has that hose. Not that I can fully remember.

I was thinking of trying that first. I just don't want to have to remove the radiator and several fans and pulleys just to replace a tiny hose.

the scroud and fan are pretty easy to remove, in my engine bay. I dont know if there is a difference in yours. I would try that and you should be ok.

Whats wrong with the hose?

cut the old hose off, put some silicone lube on both ends of the new hose, and work the new hose in.

you can also try and micrwave the new hose, but not so much that it melts. just long enough so its warm and soft.

there are only two ways to replace that hose.
1. remove the coolant pump
2. remove the cylinderhead

i have seen people cut off the old hose and then cut the metal sleeve on the head and were able to replace it, i am sure to them at the time it seemed like a good idea, in the long run it was not, if the tube is cut the hose will never seal properly. if you are going through the trouble of removing the water pump to do this job, due to the labor involved you would be smart to replace the pump at the same time.
