Rear Seat COMAND Remote Control Issue
Hello Everyone,
I have a 2015 M.B. S65, and it has the rear seat entertainment system. I have one working remote for the back seat, and the dealership ordered me a second one because it was supposed to have 2. The 2nd one they gave me is not working (LED indicator flashes orange 3 times, which per manual, means "Entry Not Correctly Transmitted.").
I suspect this new remote just has to be programmed/synced to my system somehow, but I was unable to find in the manual how to do this. The remote part number is #222-820-60-89.
Any help, guidance, or direction to point me in to get this 2nd remote working would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Pull the batteries for a while then reinsert if this fails, have dealer check it.

Each remote has a unique ID, you can see it if you remove the battery cover. I'm not aware of any other means to pair the remote with the car except the Star Diagnosis tool.

Issue Fixed
I did take it to the dealership, and they fixed it for me. When I get my paperwork, I will post the details of what was done to help anyone else who may have this issue in the future.
Thanks for the guidance, everyone!

"33940 NLC TECH 217 LEFT REAR DVD PLAYER REMOTE IS INOP PROGRAMMED
IN LEFT REAR DVD PLAYER REMOTE, NO ISSUES AFTER PROGRAMMING"
There was no charge for this work, and it was performed under warranty. I am not sure if they used their diagnostic equipment at the shop or if it is something that can be paired through some procedure at home.
Is your car less than 4 years old (and with less than 50K miles) here in the U.S.? If so, just cruise by the dealership and it will be fixed without cost to you. Maybe your dealer will provide more detail on what they do to get it running?

i have a 2015 S550 with the executive rear seat package plus, similar to the maybach.
it is less then 4 years and 50K but dealer advised it is not warrantied.
Luckily i know some people who made sure i am not charged for it.
in any event this is NOT a diy project as those remotes first need to be synced to mb software which then paired with the car.
one thing all should know, unless the batteries are dead DO NOT take them out as this will require re programming, dealer will charge $150 to do so on two remotes.
i have 4 remotes therefore on my next visit when the batteries are dead it'll be $300.

My (COMAND) remote does not need pairing if I remove the batteries. I cannot see why yours would as the UID code will not change after a flat (remote) battery.

well that is what the service guy advised me, so I am putting it out there. hopefully he was wrong and nothing will happened when changing batteries.
it took them about 2 hours to fix it, seems like the first hour or so they did not know what to do had to get the shop foremen and do some research at first.
btw I forgot to tell them about the headphones, is that something they need to pair as well or is there a way to do it myself....let me know thanks

Well today I had to visit the dealer again as paring the headphones is not a diy either.
now I finally have the remotes and headphones paired with the car.
it takes a few hours to do the pairing so plan ahead with an insurance card to get a loaner in case you can not wait.
btw I was told they make it complicated purposely so people wont steal them as they will become useless in a different car.

If that's the case, while I am still under B2B, I will be replacing all 3 remote batteries to get at least another 4 years out of them.

Headsets have the same UID code (I mean similar, each one has a unique code). Stolen devices are useless unless you have the Star tool to activate them. I'm not an experienced user, took me 15 minutes (after the necessary homework).
To be honest, the diagnosis SW has been modified at some point, I'm using a specific release for this task.

Great discussion guys. I just received my 2018 S450 with Maybach like seats with same issue.
I am taking the car car next week to get headphones and remotes synced (super boring and waste of time imho)
But it seriously is there no work around for a diy solution. One would have expected such by this part of the century.

I have a brand new OEM Mercedes rear entertainment remote for sale if anyone needs one. According to the above post, you can get the dealer to program it under warranty. Thanks.

Changing Batteries Does Not Reset Programming!
I use rechargeable batteries in the remotes and headphones, and I have changed them all several times over since the remedy of this thread, and none have ever lost programming - for what it's worth.

Yeah, it does make sense you would lost connection/programming if the battery was removed/replaced and then charging the customers $150 for reprogramming fee. I would suspect everyone would be calling MBusa.

Could you provide the menu options.
i got my hands on a star diagnosis tool but i can't find where to program the remote.

Local MB dealer wanted $299 standard diagnostic fee on top of whatever repair cost needed to reprogram my remotes. I got the car pre-owned from them several weeks ago and did not notice the issue, otherwise I would've forced them to fix it as part of the purchase agreement. As of now, I think I will be fine without the rear screens.

You can't, sorry. If you have a W222 you have to use the remote controls. The screens asre NOT touch screens. If you don't have remotes, then you're out of luck, that's a huge downside. Good thing is you can find the remotes used for fairly cheap. I've considered buying a second set for if mine stop working. There are some things you can control from the front, but I can't remember what those functions are.
