SRS light won't turn off when key is out..
Hey all,
New member here, hoping this site is more helpful than benzworld.org..
i have an 89 190e gasser with the 2.6..i bought the car with a loose positive battery terminal and an SRS light that was always on..so i tightened the battery terminal and when the car is running, the light goes out after 2 seconds..but due to the fact that the battery wasn't getting a full charge for who knows how long, it doesn't hold charge for long. so i went out to start it the other morning and noticed the SRS light was on before i even put the key in. the car coughed a few times but didn't start(cold start system issue i believe).i didnt want to kill the battery so i left it and went to work...came home that night, the SRS light was still on..battery was weak but i did get her to start..as soon as it had run about 5 seconds, the SRS light went out..so i let her run for like 5 minutes and shut her off and the SRS light remained off...until the battery went low..at which point the light came back on. ive done some research and it seems that the SRS light is designed to come on when low voltage is present.so my question is this: is the light also designed to come on with the key OUT when the voltage is low? i can't seem to get a solid answer anywhere..
thanks in advance

It is located on the transmission tunnel behind the ashtray.
It gets power from the ignition switch so it shouldn't come on with the key off. Don't know why it would come on.
