Tracking a 190E?

Anybody regularly tracking their 190E? I was thinking of building a 190E project that will be used at the local races. So its not gonna look pretty, its gonna be gutted, cage put in, bucket seats, well... you guys know the drill.

Also show some pix if you have any!

190E is probably the best MB for tracking. Handles good, light, aerodynamic...
Mine is a daily driver, plus I like it too much so it will not be a track car.
But if I had funds and equipment I know what I would do to it

Yeah, that's what I reckoned. The 190E should be super tossable. Probably not too expensive to FI the engine, get a single turbo or two smaller turbines, or maybe find a wrecked m103/m104 engine (from the bigger brothers) to swap in. Should be a fun summer project.

Keep photos coming of your project if you go through with it. I'm debating throwing money at my 92' 190 to keep her running anther couple years for a couple grand or tossing in the towel and upgrading to another e-class wagon as that is the greatest vehicle mbz ever made in my opinion of course... love my 210 estate! but the 190 still has a place in my driveway...

If you think that FI is too expensive, then turbocharging is clearly out of the question since you'll likely have to supplement the fuel system with boost.

Consider going old school for racing . . . big honkin' weber carbs as throttle bodies. Provides plenty of gas, gets rid of the CIS system and you're not going to be worried about fuel economy, right?

Cars with Stars
the ideal base for a track 190 is defintively a 16v. throw out all unnecessary things and install two bucket seats.
install a h&r cupkit, a evo2 rear sway bar, plastic made mountings for the rear axle carrier, a.s.o...
if it comes to the point where you want to modify the engine it will be verry cost intensive.
a 6cylinder (amg3,2 m103, or amg 3,4,24valve engine,m104) is also doing great but adds a lot of weight to the front of the car and that isn't usefull for a track car.
so go for a 16 valver. there are some kits available to improve the engines preformeance, efi, itb sytem, slide throttle (like i have in my evo1) but as said itb and slide is verry costly and then you still have to modify the engine itself.
8000 rpm and more are possible with the right setup.
so the 16 valver is a good deal, throw out all interieur stuff, install a proper suspension and tyres and you will love it on the track... if you want to spend more money go step by step as said....

Been there done that. Oh and the ideal for a cost effective 190 is an 8v.
