Where to start? The Italians or the Germans?
If any of you need any interior parts, I'm beginning to rip it apart so let me know what you all need. Sofar I have the trunk lining, some after-market clear corner markers (turn signals), an after-market stereo system with two subs, front fender liners, and the glove box lining.

dtm

any updates on h&r shocks? Any pictures of the project yet. Crying to see how the car looks. Are you getting these oz racing rims for it also? I have searched for any alternatives for shocks or coilovers, for e190 and cant come up to any except h&r or bilsteins. Any other ones in the market? Coilovers? Are the ones for 2.6, 2.5 8v and 2.3 16v different? Thanks for ur help!

The H&R cup kit is amazing on this car IMO (at least for a nice street/track setup). But yes we will need to build a custom coilover kit in the long run. For now I actually just ordered some 17x8 Enkei 15 spoke wheels wrapped in Dunlop Direzza 215's, but yes I am trying to get in contact with O.Z. Europe to custom order the single knock off wheels used on the old DTM cars. I will post up pix soon I promise I'm just really busy working on the car right now! I posted up pix once before but I don't remember how to... any body help me out with this?? I will find out about suspension differences between the cars but right now I honestly don't know. This is a whole new world for me still as I've only been working on BMW E36's up to this point. Right now I'm taking a break from removing the A/C system from the car. Wish me luck!

For the official record: Satan himself designed the mess of bolts, nuts, tubes and metal that comprise the a/c system in this car. After several hours of grunting, bending a wrench, and spraining my hand: the a/c compressor is out of the car and on the ground.

Sorry!! I've been kind of busy lately (got a new saltwater reef tank and I'm re-doing my E36 racecar.....) Basically, I'm waiting to send the car down to have the window tinting removed, the fuel cooler removed, and a tune up. Then its off to High Plains Raceway to go destroy these crappy stock brakes!!!

My father actually found an engine builder that is going to take care of the engine mods. We're going to do the carbon airbox that the DTM cars used, high compression piston, new lifters, EFI (most likely anyway I'm still translating information off of this German 190e forum that has lots of info), and no I haven't had any luck with those wheels.....

Just got done removing the headliner and the back seat. I'm going to leave the carpet in the car for the moment (although I'll probably rip it out too next time I'm sitting around bored).

EVO CONVERSIONS

Hey forget the idea of making evo 2 clones so close to the original.Youll never get what u put into it.People will pay big money for the originals. If you want join my idea to clone evo 2's but the drivetrain will be american. like a 400 hp 302. or i thought of a gm 6cyl. then later on you can still supercharge or turbo these motors.these motors are cheap and there are everywhere.LETS NOT WASTE TIME AND MONEY.trying to find original german parts. I lived in germany never saw a 190e being driven. found a badbus in a junk yard that was it, so let me know if ur interested.hit me up

going with an American engine would make this a waste of a 16V, It would have been much cheaper and easier to have gone with a 100 dollar 2.6 instead of destroying a Cossie. These 16V motors are capable of great power

I just registered to post this. I saw this thread a couple of days ago before my trip to Germany. I was in Stuttgart yesterday so I tried to get some pictures of the actual car while at the Mercedes Museum to see if it could help you out.

The lighting was absolute junk and unfortunately they had the car as part of a display, so one could not get close to it like the cars at the Porsche and BMW museums. I also didn't had a tripod or anything so some pictures are a tad blurry.

If one ever goes to these museums, make sure to do it slowly. One just gets overwhelmed with the sheer number and awesomeness of the cars. I've become so saturated with nice cars that when I saw BMW's F1 car today, I was like 'eh'.

Here's the flickr album of the 190e evo II. I'll try to post a picture later.

Oh, the first 3 pictures is of the '93 DTM 190e. I could get close to that one so I tried to get some interior shots to show the rollcage and steering setup.

Where did you buy those wheels? If I cannot find the O.Z racing wheels I'd settle for a set like you have.

Agreed. My engine builder says it will be a piece of cake to get around 320hp and 220ft lbs tq out of the 2.3-16 (and unlike our F360 challenge car, wont cost $XX,XXX to do so).

So last week I sent the 190 down to my performance shop to have them remove the fuel cooler, install the electric fan, and replace all the rubber (and I mean all the rubber) that has to do with the engine and chassis. So, with any luck within a week or two I'll take it down to High Plains Raceway and see what this car has in it! It'd be easy to send Sparco and email to ask this question, but does anyone know who makes racing seat bases and a 6-pt harness for this car? I also need a seat. I am not concerned with buying a replica DTM seat right now. Any kind of decent racing seat will work (any company too. Does not have to be Sparco).

I just wish I could have been able to get closer pictures.

I really need to keep in touch with you, MB_Fahrer. This is my dream car project as well, but I won't be able to even attempt it until I'm finished with medical school and the residency, unfortunately.

But when I do I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for the same problems you'll encounter.
