BMW owner thinking of project 16v?

I drive an 89 535i BMW and all I have ever had have been that same era bmws. I've seen this 190 a few miles from my house in the country and it is for sale. There is no price but judging by the condition I thinks it's probably dirt cheap. I haven't contacted them about it yet though. It looks like it's a 16v judging by what I've read here so far. It has some wide body type fender flairs and a decent stance. It's also a faded red. I looked inside and it's a manual with a pretty nice interior. I forgot to check anything else so that's all I've got. It is debadged though so I don't know what model.
Is this something worth something?
I like the look and I'm thinking about getting a little variety.
I'm out of town for a couple days so I figured I'd get some input. I'll post pictures when I get home.
Is the paint single staged? Is the engine management mechanical fuel injection or electric?

Thanks

bosch K-jet CIS system. 16Vs only came in blue/black, and smoke silver. If it was a 16V you would have seen a black Recaro 4-seater leather interior and 3 vdo gauges in the center console. Most likely not a 16v if its in bad condition.

Ok. I talked to him and it's a regular 2.3 of course. It needs exhaust and a new rear fender flare for what he claims is a genuine body kit from Mercedes. But the suspension is claimed to be perfect and tight. How would this car perform compared to my current 3600 lb 535i 208 hp 5-speed? I really like the clean look of the 190. The owner just flew to Kentucky so hopefully when he gets back he'll sell for 200-300. He seemed very hesitant at 200 and original put out 1000. But I'm thinking it will sit or get junked before he gets a grand for it. I don't want to spend much initially especially since it will likely be costly as it goes.

Tomorrow I'll probably have pictures to put up.

stock 2.3 suspension is not firm or tight and the cars are fairly underpowered. I would suggest waiting to purchase a 16V. It is the equivalent to the E30 M3
