Question sunroof trouble

Hey guys, I own a 1985 190E 5-speed, since I bought it the sunroof hasn't worked, the guy I bought it from said it was just a belt since you can here the sunroof motor running. BUT, Just the other day I hit the button and opened it about three inches, and than closed it. I tried it again and it didn't work but you could here the sunroof motor running.

Is this just a belt, or do I need to make some kind of adjustment or something?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

The belt can get sticky if it's not lubed from time to time with that expensive MB grease.

sunroof problems

If you hear the motor working and the sunroof doesn't open more, your problem could be a broken rail. Threy are replaced as a pair. There are no belts in a Mercedes sunroof, but cables which are adjusted timewise so the sunroof moves back and forward evenly and does not bind. If you cannot find a good mechanic who can fix it, go to the Mercedes dealer and go to the back where the mechanics are bringing in cars for service. Ask any mechanic if he knows one outside of the dealership who can fix your sunroof. Most of them moonlight on weekends. The parts will come from the Mercedes dealer. P.
