Annoying drivers power seat.

For some reason, the power drivers seat on my 1990 190E 2.6 does not like to move forward. It does however move back just fine. From time to time, however it WILL work. Sometimes it seems the car just needs to get warmed up, other times it works fine regardless, and other times it just wont move. Anyone have a clue if it could be the motor, or the switch?

This is really started to annoy me since my fiancee, who is 5'3" is now the primary driver. I am 5'10" and when I drive it, she can't use it until the seat chooses to work and move forward.

See sig.
How does the switch feel?

It sounds like the switch is the problem...replace it first. I had a similar problem with the recline function. Eventually there was no discernible click to the switch.

It could also be that vibration is shaking loose one of the electrical contacts. Check the wiring connections before you replace the switch. If you have a voltmeter you can test to see if there is any current running through the switch to the motor. That should give you some clue as to where the problem is.

Took the switch apart... there was some corrosion/grime/crap on the contacts. Buffed it out and put it back together. Works like a charm now.
