190rev I think the site is called, some people there have done this conversion and cite it as the best performance engine upgrade for the 190. Stock M104 is a 200hp engine which puts it in the 190E AMG 3.2 performance class out of the box. Plus nice little upgrades like DOHC and variable timing are done and done.
A straight bolt in changeover though is the 3.0 M103 which is externally identical to the 2.6 and even uses the same injection version and manifolding. Only the ECU and engine itself needs changing in this case.
With yours you could be looking at engine mount adaption, all motor anciliaries and boltups swapped, custom exhausting, the works since the 190 never had a M104 from factory. You also may need legal requirements like the brake system from the model the engine came out of installed for roadworthy compliance, the airbag system might have to be like the later model, you need to check with your registration authorities about those details. The way they view it, leaping from 160hp to 200hp and a heavier engine from a later model is a big jump, they might be strict with you about it.
