86' 190e 2.3
exaust smell in cabbin
I'm owner of a 86' 2.3 190e. I noticed that when the car is sitting I get a strange smell while the car is running. The previous owner had taken the dash out to fix the blower motor. Is there a place to start looking for the cause of the smell?? My 92 190e never had an issue like this so I'm rather stumped.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the previous owner didn't pull the dash to fix the blower motor since that's on the engine side of the firewall, but may have pulled the dash to get to the heater core, a noted maintenance issue due to leaks from failure.
As for the odor, the smell may vapors from the engine, particularly the PCV tubing or the accumulation of oil vapors to the air filter box. Open it up and check for any puddles of oil in there.

1991 190e
I have a strong exhaust smell in the interior of my 1991 190e when pulled to a stop and the ac is on. When I open the hood I don't smell exhaust oddly and the seal that separates the engine compartment from the base of the windshield where the fresh air intake is appears intact. There does not appear to be any exhaust leak under the car. Anybody with similar problems or a solution? Thanks!
