87 16V on EBAY -- scam
The car is being misrepresented big time. I know this because it used to be mine. I traded it in 2 years ago.
First off the VIN is wrong. Its a grey market so the actual VIN cant be input. The car was bought used in 89 in Berlin so there are at least 2 owners. Not sure how many hands it went through since I traded it 2 years ago. I suspect it was sitting for most of the time since it had 198k on the ODO when I got rid of it. No $5k paint job unless some one painted it when I was asleep. The AC was converted to 134 and does blow cold. The down side is it is intermittent. Never was able to track that problem down. The really bad news it it needs 2 cam gears, worm gear, secondary gear and crank gear. All are worn after 200k. Also needs the seal below the MAF and the electronic sensor on the back of the MAF. The driver bolster on the door side has a rip. Other than that, the car is very solid .. or at least was. Always garaged. Mobil 1 ever 5k for the last 150k Trans oils was also changed every 30 (rebuilt by MB at about 100k), ATE slotted rotors and pads.
I hope no sucker pays $18k for it. I am glad she was not scraped. That was one thing I always hated to think about. I hope she finds a good home. She deserves it. I wish it was me but I just don't have that kind of disposable income to make her whole again.
