Drain hose at the water pump?
In this pressurized system, the only drain hose is at the neck of the plastic expansion tank, not on the pump. The pump connections should be to the thermostat, the bypass line from the thermostat housing to water pump, lower hose to the radiator and to the return line from heater pump.
