Is the 2.6 190E a good reliable car? Found one with 126k original miles for cheap, just do not know anything about these cars and do not want to buy a maintenance nightmare.

New, old Mercedes and REAL AMG's.
It depends on how well taken care of it has been. I've seen may 200K mile cars that have been treated with respect and preventive maintenance as recommended and they look like new.
Unfortunately many of these cars were "cheap" means of transportation to many that who not keep up with maintenance. A good set of service records for a car that you are interested on would be a great start.
