Help identifying correct speedo

Hi everyone! iv recently bought a 1992 1.8 190e with the 5 speed manual gearbox. The diff is stamped up as being the 3.64 ratio which I believe is correct but the current speedo (part no 201 542 23 06) speed reading is a mile off so i am not convinced this is the correct one for the car. I have aftermarket wheels but when comparing the rolling radius in an online calculator to the standard 185/65/r15 the speed should only be out by about 4mph or so, however i have confirmed using a gps and another car that when doing 70mph indicated i am actually only doing around 50mph. Would anybody be able to confirm i have the correct speedo head or better yet be able to give me the part number for the correct one for the final drive ratio

Cheers
Craig

I was hoping that you can ask them about your speedo since they sell gears they will certainly know more about the speedo's than members of the forum. I could be wrong.
I have never seen your gear ratio mentioned in W201's in NA, so it must be rare. Usually they are 3.27, 3.07 or 2.87. Perhaps the diesels have that large of a ratio.

Perhaps send them an email and see if they have the knowledge to help you.

just going off the graph on https://mbturbo.com/gear-ratios/ it would appear to be right. Dont know if it matters but im from the uk in case there was different diff options between europe and america. Unless anyone has any links to the parts catalogue and i can compare myself?

The 1.8 was never sold in North America so it's unlikely anyone here will know the information you're looking for. Wish I could be more helpful.

Another option is to head over to your dealership and give them the VIN of your car. They should be able to give you the part number of the instrument cluster the car came with.
While you are at it, make sure the diff on your car is actually the diff your car came with out of the factory (again by asking the dealership).
Entirely possible someone swapped your diff as well.

BTW, the site you listed is a very useful resource but it is not 100% accurate. I noticed there is an unfinished thread in there about a 2.85 diff ratio of a 1992 2.6L car that is not listed in the table at all.
I can verify that indeed a 1991-1992 2.6L car I found in the JY had a 2.85 stamped on the diff like the thread mentions. The table only lists 2.87 (which I believe is correct for a 1993). I know, 0.02 delta on the ratio is a far cry from your issues, but just wanted to state the table may not be 100% correct.

Actually, you also might try the MB Classic Center in Germany in addition to Dolucasi's good suggestions. The MB Classic Center in Germany would be the most familiar with the European market cars.
