1986 190E 2.3L SunRoof

Hi. When I purchased the car, the sunroof worked. Now, however, it does not work at all. I checked the fuses and they are fine. Any ideas? Thank You.

Can you hear the motor, located on the left side of the trunk, infront of the radio antenna?

I found the motor you told me about. Interesting, when I click the sunroof button, the engine makes a quick "click" noise. Do you know what this means?

It could be the motor relay switching, but you should be able to hear the sunroof motor turning. I would start to suspect that the motor isn't getting power or is dead.

Do you think that the motor is possibly "stuck"? I have had similar things just be stuck and need to be manually given a push start to get things back on track. Is there someway I could manually open the roof to see if that helps?

The sunroof can be manually opened by using the socket that comes with the tool kit to drive the external nut on the sunroof motor. Otherwise, just get a deep socket of the proper size to turn the nut.

Just becareful not to strip the plastic handle on the motor (The tool is metal). I have the same problem on a 190D and the dealer quoted me about 300$ to fix relay and I think replace the motor. (it would open but not close at times). I figured it wasnt worth it so I closed the sunroof and just left it alone.
