190E firewall insulation pad
I need to purchase the firewall insulation pad for a 2.5-16 EVO II......is this pad the same for all 190E, 2.3-16, 2.5-16, EVO ? Where can I purchase this item? I am a very experienced Porsche collector and can usually find whatever I need but having difficulty sourcing a few minor items for this car. thanks !

That firewall insulation pad is sold as a complete item with the metal backing. On a 2.6L engine you have to disconnect coolant hoses, rpm cable etc to replace it.
I suspect it is the same way for 16V and 8V engines as well, but will be different part numbers.
Dealership probably will not have it. I checked a few years ago and they did not. The price was a ridiculous >$300 but you probably do not care about that.
I showed my car at the Monterey car week last summer and one of the many blemishes my car has was this firewall insulation. I told the judge that part is NLA,
and this head judge claimed people can source them thru Germany. Not sure if this is true but I was not going to do that and also spend many hours installing it.
So I actually stripped what was left of the old insulation using goo-off and goo-gone. Then I applied 0.5" thick black dynamat/dynacore. It looks pretty good in IMHO and not even noticeable.
I have leftover material for 3-4 more applications now.
Probably not a good solution for your car so try the classic center and maybe ebay-germany. There is a part number associated with that, find out what it is from the dealership for your model and search for the part number on the internet.

I agree with Dolucassi that the MB Classic Center should be your starting point. They've put a lot of their parts online and I always forget the website address. If the MB Classic Center doesn't have it then try www.adsitco.com. They have hard to find MB parts.

I believe your first step is to find the part number. If you are fortunate it is the same as the 2.3-8V. If so, there is an outside chance you may find one doing a search for the part number.
Not sure about Adsit for this part.

I found my Behr radiator at Adsitco a couple of years ago so hopefully, they might have what mr. rpm is looking for.

That's disappointing. Try Adsitco then. They have hard to find MB parts. I also recently read an article where MB has bought up what's left of Kienle and are beefing up their efforts for their classic models. The head of MB Heritage now reports directly to MB CEO Ola Kalenius. Let's hope that things will get better.because your EVO II is too valuable for aftermarket parts.
