Exhaust Manifold gaskets

I will be replacing the exhaust manifold on my second 190 with the (non-rusted) exhaust manifold from my original 190. So I naturally stopped by the dealership to pick-up the gasket set of 6 this week.
To my surprise 5 of the 6 are now NLA for the M103. Long story short the one I did purchase turned out to be made by Elring. The other 5 are available from online stores, made by Elring fortunately.

Just an FYI.

Happy Motoring!

Unfortunately, I have not installed them just yet. Like yourself the first task was to re-paint the manifold. Which I just completed. It looks much like your graphite lube in color but is a high temp manifold paint.
I first tested it in a small section while the manifold was in and making sure it will not flake off. So far so good. I'll let it bake some more on the car.
will tackle this probably after new years.

I used POR-15. I like the color because it matches the epoxy finish of the valve cover which this '88 will end up with once the black paint is completely peeled off, similar to my '89 2.6.

Right on!

Victor Reinz and Elring are the gasket mfrs I usually see recommended.

I prefer Elring over Victor Reinz, but I don’t have a reason for the bias. I can’t think of a time where either of those brands have given me gasket trouble.

Yes, Elring is what Mercedes sells, but I suspect Victor Reinz is probably equivalent.

Here is what my POR-15 ended up looking like comparing to the original light color exhaust paint that came with the 190E's. It does sort of match the valve cover, and seems to fade a little after heat curing it for an even better match.
