Take out the power steering?

Hey!

Anyone knows what would happen if the power steering items are all taken out? Got this leak going on and thought that maybe could do without power steering. Besides could save some power out of it too! Even tho it's just minor

Without the assist, the steering will be unsafe at low speed.

When the belt on my 2.6 sheared, I had to drive the car for a tiny distance to get to my mechanic (second day of ownership). The car was hard to turn going at speed. The 190 is just too heavy for that.

Hey...

Heavy? Maybe its cause the power steering pump is still connected? But once it's taken out shouldn't it be lighter? like any car with no power steering

Exclamation

heavy as in very hard to turn. Because of the style of power assist used, it does not really lend it self to unpowered operation.
