Resetting the Service Indicator

Does anyone know how to reset the maintenance service indicator in the GL? My local dealer charges waaaay too much for the A Service, and I'll be doing it myself or somewhere else next time.

Thanks.

This is from the W164 forum but it might work for the X164.

For some reason, Three Pointed Star will not let me register (something is broken on their side) for the forum and thus I cannot download the PDF document with the reset instructions...

Can someone on here send me a copy of the PDF or post it as an attachment on this forum?

Here you go. It takes a little experimentation to figure out how to reset the indicator, so I would recommend fiddling with it at the time when you do the service in order to avoid inadvertently resetting it between services.

Hey thanks a bunch! Seems pretty straight forward.

I tried to reset the service reminder but I couldn't get to the service menu. Nothing happens when I press tripometer three times. I tried it with door close, key in position 0, 1 & 2, COMAND on & off, hold the reset button... Has any 08 GL owner been able to reset the service indicator by yourself? Can't believe 08 & 07 would be different.

Help!

I actually got it to work... It is not really very intuitive though... Basically it was giving me the Service B in XXXXX miles message and I was able to reset it to 10000 following the instructions in the post above...

I have the keyless go system, but I took out the button and actually used the key instead... I don't know if that helps.

The one thing that ticked me off though is that right after I changed the oil and performed Service B myself, we took it to the dealer for a few warranty/recall items. My wife told them that I did the service myself, and when I went to pick it up, they had a 40 dollar charge on by bill for "resetting service indicator" I told them that I had already done that and they asked where I could have gotten access to the expensive computer needed to do it...

I said, nope, just a Contra Code from the internets... In the end, even though I argued my case, they still wanted me to pay the charge. I paid it, because it was more of a hassle to have to continue to argue than to pay the 40 and be done with it... But it still aggravates me that I had to pay it...

Can an 08 owner try pressing odometer reset button 3 times and see if anything happens? I know my reset button works because I can reset the trip meter, but just couldn't get to the tone and voltage display per the instruction...

They did what? I wonder if they would do anything if your wife didn't mention it...

It wasn't "to spec" if the indicator wasn't reset!
