Creative and RennTech

As many know, I had some issues with a RennTech pulley install that basically killed my motor. Since then, you've seen some jabs back and forth and James and I have had some discussions on how to make me whole. In the end, those talks fell through and I have had no alternative but to explore my consumer rights through mediated hands.

The purpose of this post is to make a request for anyone who has information regarding Creative and or RennTech to email me in my sig and speak to me. It can be good or bad. The reason I post here is because Creative is a sponsor here. I will also post on the boards that hold their sponsors to a high enough standard that Creative is no longer a sponsor.

As a promise to our Creative loving mod, this will likely be the last of my issues with them. We will soon have resolution; one way or another and I will live with that.

Just spent the last 30 mins reading all the updates on this thing.

WOW!

Stopped reading and rolled my eyes at the part where you drove up and a check had been sitting there dated May. Unreal!

Good luck Jang.

Thanks bro. To be honest, I doubt I will end up with anything but closure. But, I don't care. I've already paid and can't just let it go. I will see it through, just because it is the right thing for me to do. But, I seriously doubt that I will ever be able to fully recover my losses. I do appreciate all the support from those that have gotten involved. Please continue the help. I can assure you that each and every testimonial is extremely value added.

You know i got you covered, just didn't know if you wanted it mentioned. I'm sick of it. We may as well be honest and force them to man up. this strategy of dividing us to quiet us hasn't worked. I want resolution and I want it now. I have consumer rights and am fully aware of what i can and can not disclose at this point. The facts remain. Mercedes is also aware of the accusations and will be quite curious to see if any evidence is released to support them. It's all about lining up the pins and knocking them down. There is a great deal of hearsay that I wished could be used, but it can't. It would have made things an absolute drama.

It is funny how many Audi and BMW have hit me up. Definitely way more than with the MBs. The MO is consistent. The promises are clear as are the failures to meet them.

Just one message to you all. Keep in mind that text messages are tracked as are email, actually more so. The courts do use that evidence.

Can we get a short summary on what exactly happened for those of us who haven't been keeping up with this fiasco?

I can only get into certain details, but here is my opinion:

I was getting really into MB modifications and saw that Sd had a void. I searched and searched and found no shop in town that was capable of handling a $100K car for any reasonable price.

I am sure everyone knows the relationship between Creative and the old Autowerks. It was the leftovers from Autowerks that introduced me to Creative. Jame's initial intention was good. i believe he saw the potential in catering to our group, but had RennTech red tape to deal with. At the time, adam was also a rennTech dealer. I asked for a group buy and was intending to go with Adam, except he wouldn't come down here. Eventually, James offered us the same price in SD. I contacted RennTech and asked about Creative as an install shop and was told (much as the website states) that Creative is indeed an authorized dealer of RennTech performance parts. 4 cars all paid up front for stage 1. Of those four cars, I believe 1 is running properly. One was refunded after repeated attempts at tuning. And one gave up after 3 pulleys and how many tunes? Mine was a different case. The pulley bolt came out. the Pulley began to back out and in the process tore up the interior of the pulley and the woodruff key. I can not comment on the repair, other than to say that it took 3 months and the car was not in my possession that entire time. Then, James and i discussed restitution for the loss. A plan was reached on a number of occassions, but no financial action was ever taken. I pressed the issue, asking for a written agreement and all I have is a hand written schedule of payments and or parts that Creative is to make to me. None of those dealines were met and as usual typical excuses were given. I called James' bluff and he went on a tirade on me. Since then, i sent one email to he and Ken simply giving them a final chance to take action. 30 days passed and so I signed the papers.
Hope that helps.

I just bought a used Renntech pulley kit that has 5,000 on it. IT is the older style not the fluid dampened style. Reading all of these horror stories are making me think twice about installing this thing. I have read almost every post there is possible about the Renntech pulley. Both here, benzworld, and Crossfireforum. Some good others like jangys case. Just to get an idea if necessary precautions being new bolt with the proper torque specs and 90 degree extra, and lining up the woodruff key would it be smarter to cut my losses and go with a LET pulley, or should there be no worry if everything is installed correctly. I guess the only reason I am asking is yours came off completely, but the other car you mentioned had been through three of them and I do not want this happening to me.

I can't really get into some of the details that I'd like just yet, but I'll give updates as we go.

To the member that bought the used pulley, I'll be honest and say that I believe that the risk is the same with all the pulleys. Obviously a defective unit or batch can be an issue, but I don't know that there have been that many cases of it. I've never gotten into what happened with my car, because I do not want to get in the middle. I bought a specific product from their distributor, who also installed it and it made my motor go dead. That is what I do know. That raises all the issues of being a qualified technician, having proper training, etc. OK, so who trained James? I know, do you?

I've told my E46 M3 horror story to whoever will listen and people still go there.

We've all heard/read about Jangy's troubles and I saw a E55 there getting engine mods installed LAST WEEK. (I was next door at Apexcone getting HIDs, NOT at Creative)

I don't know what to say anymore.

That had to be me you spoke with!!

I have been working closely with all three of the tuners that have been working on my E55, including James!!! James has been very forthcoming about everything that has happened in the past and I have directly asked him if we will have any issues with my car. I know whatever I may say may not make other folks on the forum feel better but in my case I have had nothing but a great experience with James and Creative.
