Corroded / Destroyed Lamp Socket

just who are you anyway?
Since screen names are well just screen names, I hope you won't mind me asking, are you a woman? You're very knowledgeable.
We could use more women on the board.

but, it'd be even better if there was null socket that we can put on sidemarkers so there is no error msg and use electrical tape to cover the entire socket so there won't be corrosion...
There was some wicking of corrosion up the wire insulation. It was not so bad, yet. The wiring may need to be cut back at some point, as the corrosion progresses.
The contacts are removed from the housing by releasing the tang. There is a window on the body exterior, permitting depression of the contact tang, for release.
The side marker lamp housing was removed by separating the leading edge 'cause that seemed easier. But, it was replaced by inserting the leading edge first, 'cause that seemed best.
Old Corroded Contacts

Remember to put the seals on BEFORE the contacts

The New Contacts Crimped onto the Wires

The Completed Repair
Naturally MB does NOT sell this as a replacement part. They would sell me an entire replacement vehicle wiring harness. Can they be bigger jerks?
The Motormite 84803 socket is the closest to the correct part that I've been able to find.
Does anyone know of a replacement part that will work?
Does anyone have a replacement part they would like to sell?
For example, some vehicles have been converted to the Euro rub strips w/o side marker lamps, so there may be some sockets kicking around.
That happened to my marker on my mirror..it was cracked for a little while and corroded. It was about $60 to replace it all including bulb.
Any issues with it so far? Is it possible to apply something to prevent corrosion from water in the future?
All I need are two new contacts so I don't really need the whole repair kit. If anyone knows where I can order just the contacts (or does the dealer sell them separately?) that would be very helpful.
