Damn, I've spent how much?!?
I just recently tallied up how much I've spent on my car and um-I think I may have a problem/addiction
. So I can feel better I would like to know how much you've spent on your mods and how do you justify it to you and/or your significant other??
Btw my total is $12k in 3 mnths not including this month.....

Since then I've driven it a further 150,000 miles and it's been a very reliable family car.Whether you derived the same benefit from the bucks you spent modding your C in the past 4 months is your call
I'm into this car for over $6k, in 5 months.
My last car was worth $6,500 on its own with around $25,000 worth of mods...
Some insurance companies offer riders for aftermarket parts...for $25,000 mine cost me $125 a year...it might be worth it to look into.

With the cost of your C 240 and the money you've put into it, and converting that to Canadian currency, you could have bought a new C 32 with the same money in Canada.
Actually, it would still cost at least $8,000 more in California...but I paid CASH for my car (no financing) and $34,000 lump sum is a lot less than $55,000. Afterwards, a thousand here and there has been do-able (all my mods have been over 14 months). I also put on 25,000+ miles per year, 80% freeway driving, so I wanted a reliable, decent-gas-mileage motor that would not beg me to be a leadfoot = trouble = tickets = $$$. I know my car handles better and looks better than a C32.

Given you had the $40,000 and the time what stops people from getting them in Canada that live near the border in the US? Because I live in LA and am really considering this.

M-B Canada
One problem is that no Canadian dealer will sell a car directly to a US resident. The Canadian dealers are mostly owned by M-B Canada and tightly controlled even if they're not.
As far as the old have my Canadian friend buy it for me and drive it to the USA trick, that's not gonna be easy either. When you buy ANY M-B in Canada, even the cheap hatchback econobox
we have, you have to sign a contract upon picking the car up saying you'll not sell the car for export, excepting cases in which you agree pay the difference between the CDN and US price to M-B Canada immediately upon the export of the vehicle. This agreement lasts for one year.

I don't have a W203...I have a W202...and as far as modding costs goes...I lost count after a while and I am glad I DID LOOSE COUNT...
3 door locking pins and the instrument cluster gauges are still original inside the car (and that is ALL)...all my doorhandles and roof-/windowtrims (except for the B-pillars) are still original at the outside of the car (and again: that is ALL)...
modding is like a disease...I thought I was finished after I swapped my blue cloth interior for an ash leather interior and C36 styling kit...but the number of mods afterwards are too many to remember...in fact: I am just about to take the interior out again for some more (unnecesary) modifications...
good luck enri!

Speaking of money spent on my car....I've just throw in my 4th set of wheels in 17 months. I think I've lost count on the amount for just changing the wheels already! Not to mention my other gadgets.....oh well....
