>>The ACT Reservoir - Active Cooling Tank Available<<
ACT - Active Cooling Tank
LET Motorsports is pleased to announce availability of the next part for those seeking maximum performance: The Active Cooling Tank, or ACT.
The 55/32 Kompressor motors, as well as the 600 and 65 Biturbos use an air-to-water circuit to provide cooling of the intake charge. This charge-cooler circuit, sometimes referred to as the intercooler circuit, gets heat-soaked rapidly in stock configuration. Modified cars running more boost heat-soak even faster – ultimately reducing performance!
A larger front-mount heat exchanger (FMHE) helps a great deal, as it adds fluid volume to the circuit and recovers faster than the smaller stock unit.
The ultimate solution? The Active Cooling Tank.
This trunk-mounted reservoir is the best for 3 reasons:
1) It increases the total fluid volume of the cooling circuit by XXX liters
2) It allows for ice to be added to the circuit, increasing efficiency to GREATER THAN 100%
3) The ACT has a second, separate interior tank for dry ice – you can run BOTH !!!
Details include:
Fully insulated double wall construction – billet brackets – AN-10 swivel fittings – large access ports for ice – welded drain port – screened outlet – integrated heatsink on dry ice tank – downtube for CO2 evacuation – top-quality materials and construction throughout – 1 year warranty
The ACT kit includes all fittings, hoses and brackets required for install. Also included is a circuit separation kit, to eliminate the crossover pipe to the engine's coolant.
Due to the unique shape and design of the tank, there is sufficient room to place a supplementary pump (+$175) or nitrous bottle in the remaining area of the spare tire well.
Pricing has been set as follows:
ACT tank only: $ 499.99
ACT tank kit: $ 649.99
ACT tank + pump $ 824.99
(Prices do not include shipping.)
We are now taking orders for these vehicles:
E55 – CLS55 – SL55 – CL55 – S55
SL600 – CL600 – S600
SL65 – CL65 – S65
C32
Estimated delivery in 1-2 weeks

Very nice. The curve on the tank is a very nice touch for the spare well.
Any data-log numbers on the surge tank? For example, at 70 degress ambient, IAT`s not exceed _________ on a 12 second boost run? With or without ice?
I think you mentioned/expecting a .2 gain in ET. Can we expect that over standard cooling mods or over stock, with say a 180 pulley?

I am going to the track this weekend for data gathering purposes.
In addition to the datalogs, expect a stack of slips for review. I would opine that the more boost the vehicle is running, the more this will help.
A proto setup picked up just over 2 MPH in a 180mm-pullied car.
blackbenzz: I'm running high-temp 5/8" black hose on my car, but I can substitute fittings for whatever type of hose you would like to run for your setup.

What capacity is the tank? I have made an almost identical tank minus the dry ice canister that is currently in Marko's CL that holds about 7.5 gallons when filled. Lots and lots of room for ice.

One can use coolant, water and surfactant (Watter Wetter, et al), or even a water/meth mix. We cannot, however, assume any liability for use of flammable liquids around hot exhaust and engine parts.

While often used in computer cooling lingo, it it referring in this case to the active circulation of a heat transfer fluid.
One can use coolant, water and surfactant (Watter Wetter, et al), or even a water/meth mix. We cannot, however, assume any liability for use of flammable liquids around hot exhaust and engine parts.

Apparently my computer lingo needs an update.

What's the tank capacity and what does fitment look like in an SL65? It doesn't have a spare and the place where one would be is kind of a carpeted storage area.

Pretty sure you have a spare but do you really need the spare??? You have the 800 fix my car or tire number on the visor.. More power or spare? MORE POWER!!

I never thought to take the carpet up under the top cover. There's just a hole there where I put my tire pump and junk. I figured that's where the spare would have been like on my SL55. I wonder if there is a spare hiding under there. Could use the weight savings.

Well I went out and checked, no spare. There is a toolkit, very small, probably worth 20lbs. Under the cover my trunk looks like this, it's an extra storage area where I keep my own pump. No room for a Res under there unless I remove this bucket like storage bin and replace it with something flat.
