Another 82mm t/b install

This was just covered so rather than making another diy, I'm just showing a different outcome.
Here, the factory PCV in intact and functional. Because there is no adapter plate, the airboxes align properly.
It took the ECU two days of light driving to adapt to the new t/b. You can see the LT fuel trims are within reason. BTW, I did the "Sneaky ECU reset" after the install but that didn't make a difference for me. If I was to do it again, I would have disconnected the battery before starting the r&r.
So far so good, no CEL. I'm showing 2.0% or 2.4% throttle position when fully warmed up.

Can you post up the part number of the factory Y-pipe that mates to this throttle body?

When having my car dyno tuned we really were surprised how restrictive the stock air boxes really are. When possible really open her up and snag a VRP airbox. She'll thank you for it!

Really nice install!

wow .. we have a new mistery here

a clever welder can easily move the 2 bolting "ears" on the back of the TB to fit the inlet, or weld 2 new ears on the inlet ...

The y-pipe that I used is the 80mm version. All you need to do to make it work on the MB 82mm t/b is replace the factory seal with a set of 2 o-rings. I posted the part # in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ment-help.html

Thanks Ahmad. You were one of the first to do this mod on your own, and I owe you for providing the part #'s.
The upper bolt holes on the t/b only differ ~ 2mm from the 80mm inlet. I slightly elongated the holes in the t/b and the gasket to properly align them. For the bottom I had to add some metal to each side and one of the bolt holes needed to be filled because it was too close to the new thread location. This was the first prototype (in other words there is room for improvement). I didn't add as much material on the bottom right corner as I would have liked to.
One other thing, I had to machine a small channel at the top of the flange to clear part of the t/b.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to keep following the tracks which you and some of the other OG members layed down for us.

Nice work! Are you going to port match the inlet to the TB as well? Oh and you are welcome for the p/n's. I love helping fellow enthusiasts go faster without getting raped!

Nice work man,I havnt givin up on my tb horror yet.Is that a mb throttle body?or the porsche one?

I think all my problems were from not having a mb tb and just throwing a e55 tps sensor on a different tb.If you are seeing 2.0-2.4 fully warmed up and in drive at a stop light youre good to good bro.

Angelo I think you know your REAL problem and it has NOTHING to do with the brand of TB but the kit!

Chasing the TB fix for almost a year!

Nothing like *****ty customer service!

Yes, the inlet was port matched. The gasket is bigger than 82mm. Just added that pic so you could see that the t/b was centered on the inlet.
Angelo, yes it is a MB t/b. You could always eliminate the PCV to bump up your throttle %. Would not be my first choice but it would basically be getting rid of a vacuum leak.
