Issue with panoramic roof on A45 w176.

Issue with panoramic roof on A45 w176.
Hello I'm wondering if someone can help me.
I have been under lockdown instructions for the last 18 months as a result my car has not gone anywhere apart from every couple of months my friends have started it and if they have lhad the time,they have taken it for short drives .I went to use it today and immediately noticed a problem with the panoramic roof. This is exactly what happens. I pushed the button and hold it down to get the roof lining to move from front to back. This works fine. I continue holding the button expecting the roof to rise up up.and then start sliding forward. What actually happens is the roof moves upwards as if it is going to open I guess it moves about 5 mil upwards and then it comes straight back down. If I just try and use the tilt functionality it doesn't tilt at all. I am guessing that the roof itself is fine as are the motors and the cables. I've come to this conclusion because I hear the motor running to open the roof but then it shuts off. I believe the issue must be down to either power supply to the motor. I.e. it's not getting enough power. Or a sensor has stopped working somewhere and it believes it needs to close. I can create a video if anyone needs to see it not working.
At the same time of this occurring I also noticed that my stop start functionality had also stopped working this led me to believe the battery had run down too far to operate either devices. However today I took the car out for a 3-hour drive and the stop-start function is now back working. It's just the sunroof that won't open or tilt. I can get it on a diagnostics machine but I wondered if anyone else had experience the same issue. Apologies if the text isn't quite right I am dictating to a phone.
Any help or thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated as the car is out of warranty. I last used the sunroof 12 months ago but when it was in at the garage in December they supposedly greased it up. I didn't think to check at the time (late December) or test thatnthr Roof was working as expected. Like I said I believe it's either a sensor or the auxiliary battery possibly???
It's out of warranty but I do have an option of getting an extended warranty from a third party.
