Thinking about both as my daily driver. 911 will hold its value better, but the AMG has the V8, sounds better and has more luggage space. Waiting for my dealership to get their first deliveries in April so I can drive one first, and make up my mind if I want to pursue either. Waiting on a allocation for a 992 Turbo S, if that doesn’t come through the AMG will also be more available.

That would be nice! I don't have that much garage space...I use my F250 as my other daily driver. Yes, depreciation is one of my biggest concerns. While the money isn't that big of a deal, it just drives me crazy knowing I'm losing money. That hasn't happened in awhile since I've had 911s and they seem to only appreciate in value. But I'm hoping the fun/joy of the V8 will be a nice counter to the loss in value. Guess we will see....Was going to get a 63 but my dealer only had a 55 available. The more I look at it, I'm pretty happy with the 55. Same engine and drivetrain...I'm hoping down the road, a tune will bump it up to the level of the 63. But, as I found in 911s...there's only so much power you can actually use in a daily driver. So I'm sure the 55 will be plenty.

I have a 991.1 GT3 and just got a 2018 GTR. Totally different but both exciting cars. I track my cars often so I cant wait to take the GTR out and test it.

Drove pretty much all the AMG cars (no Black series) during the first 2 courses at the AMG experience Sonoma raceway, and was very impressed with the GT-R. Not a track rat or I would have pursued a GT-R or GT-R Pro

Anyone else trying to decide between 911 and amg gt? Way back when I started this thread, I went to go pick up the gt55 they were holding for me but it didn't have back seats. And so I picked up an X5M. And while it is a lot of fun and very practical...I miss having a more engaging experience. so I'm back to 911 vs amg. 911 will retain value better regarding msrp. But you can find a used amg gt63 with below 1k miles for like $40k off of msrp. So i'm wondering if they will continue to decrease...I really think they will level out and be a pretty good value at that $140-150k range. A comporable 911 would be at the least a GTS and then you are looking at $185k at least. So just trying to weigh everything out.
I had a 997 Turbo S. Hands down it was the best car I have ever owned. Between the AMG and the 911....for me, no brainer. I drove my 911 all winter as it seriously handled the Chicago snow far better than my (former) Audi S4 with Quattro and Blizzaks. Sure, next to no back seat...but, the AMG cars I have owned and driven have never been a 911. This opinion leaves out any dollar figures or resale theory. But....car for car, dollars aside...911....all....day.....long.....
Second best was a 2005 C240 4Matic Wagon that lasted 280,000mi.

Got an allocation @ MSRP for a 992 TTS, so ended up keeping my GT 63 S 4 door and adding the Turbo S.
I currently have a 2022 911 TT. My lease is up in May and I was thinking about purchasing it after the lease as the buyback is only $100,000. Unfortunately, my son got into a bad accident with it and the whole passenger side rear quarter panel had to be replaced and now it will have a bad Carfax so buying it back is not an option now. Now I’m looking at a GT 55 which I think overall will be a better daily due to ride quality and more luggage space. I loved the 911 TT and it is the best car I’ve ever owned however prices at Porsche have gotten so high now that it’s just out of my price point to buy a new one. I’ve seen a bunch of barely used 55s and 63s that are $30 to 40,000 off of list with only a few thousand miles. This is probably the way I’m gonna go.
Curious to know how your 911 TTS rides...compared to an AMG GT (if you've driven the AMG)? In comfort mode...is it supple? Or stiff "sports car" ride? Thx

I have the Sport PASM suspension which is also lowered 10mm, and in the normal mode it is much more compliant and comfortable than my GT 4 door in comfort mode. I find the GT comfort mode to be too “bouncy”. The TTS is very comfortable, while still feeling like a responsive sports car. My only complaint with the TTS is the exhaust note, which I may swap the exhaust. However sometimes it’s nice to hear the “whoosh” and other turbo noises with being obnoxious.
I’m having the same debate. Thinking of selling my current 991 911 and buying a GT 55. Drove a 2024 CS4 and it was a bit of a snooze. The dealer also wanted more than original msrp on a used one and wouldn’t order me a new one unless I bought one of the used ones first. Screw that nonsense.
In contrast my Mercedes guy went out of his way to figure out how to help and find an allocation. The test drive was also much more exciting. Not sure I’ll make it back to Porsche unless they change their ways. They’re starting to feel way to much like Ferrari.
