GT/C192/R192: Winter wheels + tires for GT43 w/19" wheels.
AMG GT: GT, GTS, GTC, GTR, GT-4 door (C192 / R192)2024 - present: The GT/GT S is the second generation GT sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.
I am considering getting the AMG GT43 to use as a daily driver. Factory mounted AS tires are not available for any of the wheels sizes offered, which are 19", 20", or 21". A set of Winter wheels and tires is pretty much required for 4 or 5 months in Northeastern States. There is a bigger selection of Mercedes wheels for Winter tires in 19" sizes than there are for the 20" or 21" size. The standard GT43 suspension is supplied with 255/45-R19 tires on 9.5" x 19" ET60 wheels in the front and 285/40-R19 tires on 11" x 19" ET50 wheels in the rear.
I am planning to use a square set up for Winter tires. Either 255/45-R19 tires (stock front size) or narrower 235/50-R19 tires can be mounted on 8.5" x 19" ET35 wheels on all four corners. I compared the 235/50-R19 size to the Summer wheel/tire size using www.willtheyfit.com calculator. I am curious to know what other forum members think about using 235/50-R19 tires for the Winter months. Should I stay with the factory front tire size of 255/45-R19? The 235/50-R19 tires can be mounted on 6.5" to 8.5" wheels. The 255/45-R19 tires will work with 8" to 9.5" wheels.
Front 235/50-R19 in Green.
Rear 235/50-R19 in Green.
I am hoping to test drive to test drive GT43s with both standard suspension and Active Ride Control suspension before deciding on the wheel size. Most of the GT43 coupes on dealer lots seem to be equipped with standard suspension.
