Nope, you are not the only one. Not necessarily fat fingers, but the capacitive buttons are pretty much universally hated and along with everything being touch one of the dumbest recent ideas in cars. Car manufacturers are recognizing it and going back to physical buttons. It's not like we didn't see this coming. VW is the first who had officially announced that they are going back to physical buttons. Ferrari is also backpedaling from their current steering wheel as many have complained that they are accidently triggering functions simply by brushing up on the capacitive buttons. It's the same issue across the board. Not everything needs to be changed or disrupted as often what was there before is objectively better than the new way of doing it.

I'm pretty much sitting out the current generation of cars. Waiting to see what they do for some of the facelifts as I just find many things to be stupid and dumb to the point that it detracts from the rest of the car. The interior is the one thing that you are constantly in contact with and interact with, so the ergonomics and UX have to be right and the software must not be buggy, which unfortunately is one of the biggest issues with modern cars. For example my 2019 C63S Coupe is mechanically solid and drives like a dream, but I'm currently dealing with gremlins in the digital instrument cluster. Fortunately it's not stopping me from driving the car, but pretty much every time I get in after it was parked for a few hours such as overnight, a couple of settings in the cluster are lost. The most annoying is that it changes from mph to kph for some strange reason. Since the car is out of warranty now and software bugs are not covered by extended warranties if I had one, the dealership wanted to charge me a fortune to try to get this fixed, so I'm currently working with BenzNinja to get the cluster reflashed. He's waiting for me to first replace the aux battery to rule out voltage issue before we go ahead with the 6 hour reflash. I already changed the main battery. But this stuff is just freaking annoying and the biggest issue with keeping a car for a while. As opposed to the big software companies that continue to update their software years after a device came out, car manufacturers just don't care about fixing bugs that appear after the warranty ends, and even during the warranty despite OTA updates, MBUX continues to be buggy.

I guess count me in as one of those that despise the capacitive touch.

I hate the fingerprints, scratches (as it is usually accompanied by piano gloss) and low accuracy of those things or maybe because of my ocd.

With the track commands you don't have to say Hey Mercedes. Simply say next track. There are a few commands that don't require the hot word

Added the fixed drop Brabus springs--- fixes the height for sure. The ride is really quite tolerant if not maybe slightly softer vs the OEM springs. The Brabus ones are actually made by Eibach Germany (scanned the qc on the box).

Spacers coming next of course; I tried to use my 5x112 H&R ones from my M4CS but the GT63 wheel hub inner wont accept them.

I have some H&R spacers on my 2019 GT 63, do you think they would fit the GT 55?

Wow, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of your AMG history! Congrats on the latest addition. Looks mental, absolutely love the spec!! The tint really brings it together and makes very menacing

They were BMW (mine) specific so they fit the hub on the axle but not perfectly on the rear hub of the wheel sadly.

Appreciate this --- AMG is back in my life.

I still have a few more things to do like spacers and exhaust.

+1 for another AMG conversion

I love this post. Jumping in with my own experience. I was a diehard Porsche fan coming from 2 992 GT3s and a GT4RS this year. I was set to euro deliver my 3RS in June but with the 25% tariff, I decided against it. Never considered AMG GT but happened to see it on the MB dealer lot while looking at a car for my wife. The looks caught my attention right away and I took a test drive for fun. It sold me right then and there. Completely different than my Porsche experience but at the price range I was now looking, the amg had a much better package (similar to OP I got 47k off a new 2024). I wanted to buy new and post discount, I would have been cross shopping a base Carrera with the AMG GT63–I didn’t find this a close discussion.

got it 8 days ago and now about 900 miles in. First 200 miles, I was ready to return it as I thought the suspension was brutal, at best. However, another user posted about comfort tire pressures which I never knew about. I lowered it from 46 psi to 32 which was the MB recommended pressure for my load and speed. What a game changer, rides like a Bentley in comfort now.

on to the PPF shop tomorrow for a XPEL stealth conversion. More pics to come. Very happy thus far

WTF 46 is nutso --- I run 32 square using the gas cap suggestion vs what the max the tire allows (as the tire doesnt know what car its on)... your dealer was very clueless.

Love the blue, its amazing. I like the car so far, its a little light on the throttle response (Im used to a more aggressive press) so Ill add something there to boost the aggression. I love the sound too but want MORE of it.

Wow, Vic a blast from the past. I was looking around here as I’m thinking about grabbing one of these. Bimmer from the old M5 board not sure if you recall. You’re the same top notch cars.

Gotcha...not sure if you have seen the thread about the exhaust sound not being right. I found mine was doing the same thing. I just picked mine up from being repaired. It made a huge difference. Not sure if your exhaust has the same issue but worth checking. I had no burble at all. Now I have lots, in fact it seems the overall sound seems better.

I did read that thread pre acquisition so I made sure the service dept did a full update on everything. I get barks, pops, etc but I want more decibels.

Pretty good review for the AMG and what most other journalists are saying...

I have the 992.1 GTS so its not comparable and have had two M8 Comps so I know that car well. The Aston is the hooligan of the lot for sure...
