Ok, happy to report I just spent some time re-installing... and now with some cut up scrapped sore hands and forearms I can report I did have it plugged into the wrong sensors.

and now, its plugged into the ones shown on the diagram. They are pretty low, and hard to get to especially on the passenger side, may be easier to get to it from the bottom. I had to have my wife connect the final one on the passenger side, because I could not get my hand turned the right way and get it in. but I got it. You just have to really really search for them.

Ill also note, now that its done correctly, I wont be able to easily take it in and out, so the bypass plug is a must. I dont want to deal with that again unless I put it up in the air and can easily get to the sensors from the bottom. The passenger side appeared to be able to possibly access from the bottom, but not sure. driver side was a pain, but not as bad as passenger side.

also happy to report, it was either placebo affect or maybe added a little bit but not full HP added, but its substantially faster now. Noticeably... so im glad I emailed renntech because I probably would have kept it how it was until a CEL came on if it ever did.

I do not believe it has different power maps, like the race chip does, I think the RC has 6-7 different maps. But on my M5 I always left it on map 7 which was the strongest. the Renntech does not have any different ones that im aware of.

I’m glad to hear you figured it out!
Now it makes me wonder if I have mine correctly installed. I’m assuming so since it got installed at a performance shop, but you never know!

Also, when I looked at the wiring, some of the connectors were very hard to get to, so maybe that’s why you’re referring to.

I contacted the previous owner and he’s contacting renntech to see how much a plug is.

Yeah, I was gonna ask if you can change the maps in the RPM.

congrats!

question- where did you get the sensor and engine diagrams from?

If a shop did it, I would imagine it's correct. Just reach out to renntech directly, I would imagine they would be willing to sell one, or maybe even send one out as a courtesy.

Yes the 2 connectors that go on the intake manifold are a pain to get to. On passenger side, may be easier to get to it from the bottom. I was able to finagle my arm/hand in on the driver side and finally get it, but my hand is def cut up a bit from it. Passenger side, luckily my wife was able to get her hand arm in there while I directed her, and she got that one connected, but theyre almost like directly over the CV boots on the front axle.

No, you cant change the maps on the renntech RPM (as far as I know), you can on the racechip (I think).
