GTR just arrived
Very excited to see my new GTR arrive at the dealer this week. Picking it up next week.

Looks like the speedometer is in KM so I'm thinking not unless you can switch back and forth.

Yes you can switch the miles/kw back and forth.
However, to my knowledge there are still NO GTR and e63s deliveries in the US.
Maybe the week of 7/17 or 7/24...
Regards

also looked at the Licensed Plate by zooming in on the MB on the background and does not look to be a US Plate.. anyway my MB AMG sales person mentioned July 17th as the week he is expecting the GTRs to the delivered....

No GTRs have been wholesaled yet to dealers in the US even though they are sitting at the port. At least nothing on the West Coast that I'm aware of.

Looks awesome and I would have ordered the same.
Are you in the picture or is that the better half? She seems excited as well.
Give us your impressions after you drive it a bit.

GTR speed test on the Hockenheim
In the German automag AMS, the fine folks that ran the AMG GTR in7:11 at the Nurburgring followed up discussing in detail and raced the car on the Hockenheim track in Germany.
Specifically, they discussed the tires used on the car and timed the runs with both the Michelin Pilot Cup 2 and the special track tires available (Michelin Cup 2 ZP) and describe all pros/cons in detail.
Fun facts: With the Pilot Cup 2's, the car ran 1.07,4 minutes; the best time with the Cup 2ZP's they gained a second to 1.06.358 minutes.
How does it stack up to the competition?
The AMG GTR is a mere 38 milliseconds! slower than the Porsche 918 Spyder at 1.06,320
minutes, ranking the car 2nd on the leaderboard.
Since the 918 was quite a bit faster on the straights, the GTR easily beat the 918 in the curves.
They conclude that the GTR has the highest grip, lateral acceleration (1.7 G) and ability to drive at the limit of any sports car in production.
While the article is in German, it's a great read. Hope Google translate won't butcher it too much

Dare I say that this makes the GT-R a real bargain. Same performance as a 918 for a fourth of the cost lol.
Now if only it could hold its value and increase over time like the 918...
