RENNtech - AMG GT-S Stage I Turbo and Coil-Over Suspension

RENNtech just released their latest performance upgrades for the Mercedes-Benz C190 – AMG GT-S. The RENNtech Stage I Turbocharger Upgrade and Coil-Over Suspension are now available.
These performance products have endured thousands of test miles at both of RENNtech’s Headquarters in the United States and Germany. Now the Stage I turbo upgrade completed its final testing on the world’s most demanding race circuit, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The upgraded turbochargers for AMG’s 4.0L V8 BiTurbo engine feature lightweight billet compressor wheels and larger impellers. The compressor housings are precision CNC machined and flow tested to compensate for the increased impeller size. In combination with the R1 Performance Package, which includes Stainless Steel Downpipes w/ 200 Cell Catalytic Converters and High-Flow Air Filters, the RENNtech Stage I Turbo will add up to 180 HP and 161 LB-FT over measured stock performance. This brings the AMG GT-S power output up to 716 HP and 656 LB-FT.
Ensuring all the power from RENNtech’s performance upgrades is transmitted to the road, RENNtech developed a suspension kit to improve both vehicle handling and performance. The four-corner suspension kit allows full ride height adjustability and lowering of up to 1.5” for the front and rear. The combination of the RENNtech coil-over suspension with the OEM dampers gives the AMG GT-S performance handling without losing the daily-driver comfort and keeping the OEM electronic damper control retained.

The RENNtech Stage I Turbo Charger is available for $11,880. Price includes the required ECU Upgrade.

The RENNtech Coil-Over Suspension kit is available for $1,980.

Turbo upgrade is tempting but I've yet to see any trap speeds from the bigger turbo cars or videos running against a tune only car (applies to all tuners). Any plans to do either?

I agree. The price is already exorbitant enough that I would need to see a very significant difference between a tuned car and an upgraded turbo car.
I hope Renntech will send their car to PBIR soon and share it with us.

Comparing weistechs dyno of their ECU tune only vs ECU tune+ DP + turbo upgrade + etc (which they've graciously posted for us to compare), there doesn't appear to be any real benefit with the physical modifications. In fact the ECU tune has ostensibly better results. I find that strange and I'm left wondering if I'm missing something but it's clear ECU tune only is your best bet.

Yeah. Renntech seems to be having trouble getting power out of the 178 with tunes or turbos ....

I'm not sure how you're reaching that conclusion. It's true that going to bigger turbos will cost some midrange torque for upper end hp, if that's what you mean.

ECU tune is the best bang for the buck.

Adding downpipes seems to add about 15whp peak and around 50wtq at 3500RPM. Not great gains so you could say sound would be the major reason to do downpipes.

However, if you look at all the graphs of the stock turbo cars, they seem to be almost peaked by 5000rpm-5500rpm. The turbos are just too tiny IMO. I want my sports car to pull hard all the way to redline. The car already has plenty of torque down low so personally I'd rather have the extra 150hp from 5000-7000RPM.

I want to do turbos but I've yet to see any real world results from any of the major tuners. Right now the car feels great driving around town but seems a little disappointing when I try to stretch her legs.

It's going to be interesting to see which way the AMG factory goes with the new GT-R model on engine power increases. My bet is bigger turbos.

The Weistec graph shows torque increase down low using the ECU only upgrade so for circuit track days I see higher intake temps taking that path. I'll pass on that as the GT-S has so much capability most of us will never reach 8/10 on the track. I suppose if you want to increase straight line speed which everyone wants, the short drag race it won't matter on higher intake temps.

It appears the Renntech power curve mimics the factory's so I see an attempt to add power and keep the drivability.
The cost of upgrades are within reason given the amount of engineering you have to put into the upgrades to make a profit. So for those who think this is expensive it's not.

1.5" is half inch more than the KW.... And I need it. I'm actually very excited to get them swapped out.

Renntech, if you can get back to me about our discussion over PM, I would greatly appreciate it.

Got the Renntech sleeves in. I'm hoping it will settle a little bit more. Doesn't quite look like a whole half inch more, but I may need to give it some time. Initial feeling so far is the they are more comfortable than the KW to be honest. But that's on about 4 miles of street driving in Sport+.... Tomorrow I'll hit some hwy and let you guys know.

Looks awesome.

I love the 10 spoke titanium wheels. Couldn't find a single car locally with that option.

I know, and it's only an $800 option in Canada! That's cheap hp gain in my books, as I am a firm believer in the detrimental effects of unsprung weight.
