I wasn't talking about you. I was simply saying there are more than seven 2018 allocations on the entire east coast. Your comment is proof of that. That there are 8 in your region alone. The guy above who said his dealer told him seven TOTAL on the ENTIRE eastern seaboard... that dealer is the one full of it.

I was told by three new car sales managers at three large MB dealerships that they wouldn’t receive new allocations until the ‘held’ cars were released and delivered to customers. Further, based on postings on this forum and what I was told; (and which forced me to purchase a car on the lot), potential owners are being told that allocations will be for early 2018 with delivery in spring 2018, and that those allocations would be ‘limited’.

Add all of the above together and, at least to me, it seems reasonable to assume that 2018 GT Rs aren’t going to be exactly plentiful. Caveat: I could well be wrong and am only applying my logic to the argument.

As for 991.2 GT3s: On RL it has been stated that approximately 30% of all new 911 deliveries are GT cars. Potential owners keep mentioning that they are being called earlier than initially told they would be to lock in their order, and early orders appear to be showing up in droves. Again, I am extrapolating from what I’ve read there, so I could easily be way off base.

If you have data that refutes my feeble attempt at trying to apply logic to the ordering process of these two phenomenal cars, please share it.
I was just asking, wasn't saying you were wrong. I thought you had some actual numbers/facts on it. I was curious to know how many of these are going to be built.

There are a ton of them for sale at 50% off MSRP. And these are asking prices; I'm sure you can negotiate.

Here's a beautiful one asking $89k:

Been on AutoTrader for a while.
You aren't even talking about the current or the 991.1 GT3.

I tried to make the point but to no avail. Bottom line is that Porsche GT cars hold their values way better than their competitors.

Only 4 regions in the country..

btw I am that dealer (no offense taken...I know dealers have earned that rep) Thats what I saw last night.. it updated this morning with the rest of the allocations.. hence the correction.. a few of the NY regions cars popped up (all green, probably the default color combo). There are more GTR's in there but previous orders, cars already in build/ship status, and cars on the ground. Im talking new fresh allocations. It really is a trickle...

just to share, this is the OFFICIAL statement from MB HQ: GTR’s =
"The next allocation of GTR’s will take place in December and these units will be March production. Please be reminded, the production of GTR’s is EXTREMELLY LIMITED between now and the end of 2018."

Those are the new 8 new allocations in my region (again.. fresh new)

I really am not one of "those" dealers.. i actually like, track and work on my cars... working a dealer is my case to be around cars all day

I’m sure you can get it for under $100k

I love the GT3, don’t get me wrong. But the way Porsche markets it as limited is just a farce. They build thousands of them in each gen. And they hold their value no better than any 911.
The GT3 RS is another story. But it’s also more than double the price.
This isn't true at all. Have you ever owned any variant of a 911, let alone a GT?

I received trade-in credit on my 2015 GT3 with 8000 miles for $128K. MSRP was $139K so obviously for a 3 year-old car that's damn good retention of value. That doesn't even include the excise tax savings I received on the $128K trade-in.

Compare that to a same year Turbo S and I will agree with you that's steep depreciation.

I do agree with you that Porsche's marketing of the new GT3 is a joke. ADM's are already down to $10K over MSRP in the Bay Area and LA from $25K over and a lot of 991 GT3 owners are having second thoughs about whether the $50K cost to upgrade to the new GT3 is worth the performance gain. Especially now that Porsche has extended coverage of the 991 GT3 engine's finger follower issue.
