GTR to go 6cyl too??
It has been reported elsewhere that there will be a new base model 6 cyl GT....but take a look at this video of two GTRs testing at Nurburgring. The green one has only the front camo'd and is assumed to be the upcoming GTR Clubsport. It sounds just like the existing GTR....but take a listen at 2:05 of this video. The fully camo'd GTR definitely sounds like a 6cyl.
From a performance perspective, it would not hurt moving to a high hp 6cyl if only to take some weight out of the car. On track, I am constantly fighting the weight so less lbs would be great. Sound of course is another story.

Yep Audi been talking about 6 cylinder R8 for awhile and 488 successor might also be a 6. Question is whether a hybrid will be added to a 6, obvious weight disadvantage but instant torque and better emissions.
I think 6 cylinder also positions sales for China.

It looks great, doesn’t it?
Definitely the ‘Clubsport’ version. More aggressive aero on the front; (see the canards?). I really wish it was going to be sold in the US. The half cage can be certified, after all BMW have done it, and getting the racing buckets would also be truly useful as I find keeping myself stable in the car is very difficult and energy intensive.
As for equipping the car with an in-line 6 variant it doesn’t bother me much at all. Porsche sell what, 32 different types of ‘911’, and it doesn’t seem to hurt GT3 and GT3 RS sales one bit. What MB also need to do is get the damn GT R BS released ASAP.

And yet "6cyl" fully camo'd car has much more aggressive aero than the green car. The front splitter is so long it has two external support struts to hold it up. Plus the two canards are much bigger.

I actually like the prospect of the 6 cyclinder. I'd rather that the performance levels were more defined rather than having 4 cars with essentially the same engine just mildly different tunes.
